\n \n Mitten Phone Chapter<\/title><br \/>\n<\/head><br \/>\n<body><\/p>\n<h1>Welcome to the Mitten Phone Chapter<\/h1>\n<p>\nYou have reached the Mitten Phone Chapter, a virtual chapter of the Michigan Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired, an affiliate of the American Council of the Blind.\n<\/p>\n<h2>Our Mission<\/h2>\n<p>\nOur mission is to support independence, quality of life, and equality for individuals who are blind and visually impaired through advocacy.\n<\/p>\n<h2>Who We Are<\/h2>\n<p>\nThe Mitten Phone Chapter provides a venue for members at large or those unable to participate in a local chapter to share concerns and contribute to the work of the Michigan Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired and the American Council of the Blind.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWe support initiatives such as accessible voting machines, accessible absentee voting, and safety through accessible prescription labeling.\n<\/p>\n<h2>Support and Inclusion<\/h2>\n<p>\nWe provide support to individuals who are newly blind and their families, as well as current members.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWe also support:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Parents of blind children<\/li>\n<li>Blind parents raising children<\/li>\n<li>Individuals with additional disabilities, including hearing impairments, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nWe are a diverse group committed to advocating for equality and encouraging participation in local, state, and national issues impacting independence and quality of life.\n<\/p>\n<h2>Meetings<\/h2>\n<p>\nWe meet via Zoom or phone conference when directed. The meeting schedule can be found on the Meetings and Events page.\n<\/p>\n<h2>Membership<\/h2>\n<p>\nConsider becoming a member. Membership dues are:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mitten Phone Chapter: $10<\/li>\n<li>MCBVI\/ACB: $10<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nIf you are joining MCBVI for the first time, please complete the membership form. Existing members can renew dues online.\n<\/p>\n<h2>Annual State Convention<\/h2>\n<p>\nOur Annual State Convention will be held in October 2026 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. See the Meetings and Events page for more information.\n<\/p>\n<h2>Grant Program<\/h2>\n<p>\nThe Mitten Phone Chapter offers small grants funded through fundraising efforts.
